About NEMOS GmbH

NEMOS was founded in 2012 to develop an innovative system to generate electricity from ocean waves. Based on research findings from 2010, it achieves high hydrodynamic efficiencies by the use of a rope-system.

The NEMOS-system consists of an elongated floating body which is connected to the seabed by ropes. Excited by the waves and using rope kinematics, mechanical energy is transmitted to a generator. For protection from extreme wave loads in heavy storms, the system can be lowered to calmer water.

Role in the Project

The role of NEMOS within Space@Sea is investigating options in the field of harvesting energy from the relative motion between the modules and the coordination of the integration of subsystems.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 774253.

The SPACE@SEA project spans three years, running from November 1st, 2017 to November 1st, 2020.
