About Stichting Wageningen Research

The WR foundation is the legal entity containing all research institutes of Wageningen University and Research which conduct application-oriented and applied research commissioned by government, commercial business and non-profit organizations. The WR foundation is represented within this proposal by one of its member institutes; Wageningen Marine Research. 

Role in the Project

Wageningen Marine Research in the Netherlands is a leading, independent, objective and authoritative institute that provides knowledge necessary for careful management, use and protection of natural riches in marine, coastal and freshwater areas. It is an institute that provides knowledge necessary for an integrated sustainable protection, exploitation and spatial use of the sea and coastal zones. Its products and services are field research, experiments on a real-life scale, exploratory studies on a laboratory scale, data management and modelling. Furthermore, Wageningen Marine Research is a key, proactive player in national and international marine networks (including ICES and EFARO).

Within the Space@Sea project WUR will be WP leader of WP2 and WP8 and also actively contribute to WP1.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 774253.

The SPACE@SEA project spans three years, running from November 1st, 2017 to November 1st, 2020.
